Front page recognition and/or a numerical score don't really validate the quality of a flash animation. Nor should either be your ultimate goal if you want to have any long-term fun experimenting with Flash. :3

I think you're on a great track to really setting your own style of humor and art. I'm a big fan of surreal ramblings. xD

I'd work on easing your transitions from scene to scene because they were pretty abrupt and frequent. I liked the pacing though--and the sudden stop at the end always adds that wtf factor that makes these kinds of animations fun to watch.

Keep doing what you do!

Thundaboom responds:

Why thanks! I think I am the first to use U shaped heads.

I have this thing with scenes, but I guess I'm getting better!

Thanks again!

Very nice, bud

It'd be cool to see a stadium version of the game that ran like this. Also, I pity anyone who has the time to level ulp a Steelix to 70. I lost patience at around lv. 55. Still, that was pretty sweet--very nice dynamic camera and a more involved POV shows some real improvement when I first discovered your fight scene animations.

It's a shame there's no sfx, and I'm just talking out loud at this point because I know you wanted to just focus on polishing your animating skills. It's just that there's always a distance I feel when I can't here an explosion or a snapping jaw every now and then. Hm.

Anyway, much love--congrats on the awardage too!

NCH responds:

heh thanx ^^

Wow, it's Yotsuba!

That was both really sweet and inspiring. Thanks for adding my tiny little character to this work, it's a real honor. Ha, I can understand what you mean by feeling that a piece of your work is overrated--but consider it a reflection on people's love for your work rather than a grade.

It's cool Yotsuba made it into Portal history this way. I give all the credit to you! <3

I feel like a proud parent. xD

indigoApe responds:

=O Skaijo

I'm glad you took the time to review, I didn't expect any artist i named to even notice this. Yotsuba is a great character, that I've fallen in love with, and I just had to include her.

I don't deserve any of the credit, you did all the work, I only put pieces together. lol

Thanks for the kind review <3

Hey now, that's still talent!

Hey, you're brilliant with lip synching! Personally, that's still one of my greatest hurdles that I'd rather hide behind flapping mouths put in the serious effort. Still, you made it look easy.

Good on you with 1k. Here's for many more, right.

HeliosStar responds:

Skaijo reviewed my flash <3. Thanks for the lipsync compliments, it's actually the first thing I learned how to do XD. Love your pick-up series by the way. it's like the definition of EPIC.

Well thought out.

I like the effects that you pulled off here. The blurs, effects, and even the bullet time FX were really ambitious and done pretty well. I liked it a lot; it was grusome along with your trademark humor!

Bazark responds:

Jijijjii!! =P ! thankyou too

I don't know, I thought this was funny

+Funny and certainly interesting. You made me laugh out loud.

-No animation.

Overall:

Although I found this hilarious, a video like this would do much more justice on youtube than Newgrounds.

HyperRaider responds:

Hardly anyone will watch it on youtube.
But thanks for the advice ;)

Really good stuff.

+ I really liked the effects that went into particular scenes including Bill's demonic transformation.

+It was also well written.

-I suggest that you improve the audio quality voice overs. In certain parts of the animation, it was hard to determine what was said over the bad quality. It sounded like you had used a Noise Filter on a very high setting to be specific.

-Don't put warnings about the movie in the preloader. You should fix any problems you may think you have with the animation before you submit it.

-Certain parts of the animation weren't animated as well as they could have been. For example, Bill's walking loops were poor--especially the loop where he's walking away with his back to the camera. Moreover, the sun in the introduction of the flash should have slowly panned to the right rather than remaining static in the frame. The shaving scene was a nice touch, but foam was being removed in places that weren't even being shaved. It good to see that there wasn't one glaring error, but a collection of small ones is often times just as bad.

+Very nice character sketches. None of the characters looked alike and they each had their own personality. But you may want to be wary that Bill does not become a parallel of Homer Simpson.

+The crap scene was enjoyably disturbing.

Overall, this is an excellent animation, which shows a lot of effort and potential. The animation seems heavily influenced by The Simpsons and Family Guy, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I urge you to really use your talents to make Bill's Adventures your own unique work.

Psychotic-Dan responds:

Thanks for the contructive critasicm, im always happy to hear how i can improve, rather than how much i sucked.

Can't wait for more.

Very smartly done! I loved the camera angles--this is way too advanced for a first entry. I wish my first shot at animating was this good.

thrakish responds:

THANK YOU!!!! tell many many people please... =D

Coolies

I'm really shocked that you only used Windows Media stock sound files to pull this off. I never would have guessed--and it fits the animation so well.

++Very nice quality--I love the colorful world. Nice attention to detail, especially with the smoke coming out of the carts at the airport.

-When the car screeched to a hault, the streak lines stopped before the car did, which shouldn't have happened.

-The beginning Ibby's Hair Restorer title shot had far too high of a contrast between the red text and the blue bg.

++I love the facial expressions of Ibby's lips. How did you do that? I'm guessing you fbf'd that. I'm not sure, but it's a fantastic effect that you pulled off. I've never see something like that before.

+Nice factory shots and inside jokes with the labels. They were on screen for just the amount of time needed to get the joke, which was expertly done.

I really liked the simple story but it would have been nice if there was more conflict as a whole. Still, it was a wonderfully made flash animation.

IceDragon64 responds:

Thank you so much for your detailed review.
1. I am proud of the sounds. I set my heart on doing it this way and some of the scenes, such as the lift, were created to use the sound! The sounds are made speeding up, slowing down and mixing sounds- the car, the lorry and the plane are the same sound! The smoke out of the forklift truck took 21/2hours of getting it wrong before I got it right!
3. I will imporve the skid marks
4. I will check out the contrast
5. Lips were FBF. I took ed77's 2 second animation and developed it, altering each frame of his FBF and inserting another 30 frames. ed77 (the real Ibby) is such an over the top, expressive person he doesn't do small smiles!
This is SUCH a controversial movie! people LOVE or HATE the MS sounds and after all that effort on the lips, for example, it got blammed 3 times! This is already a labour of love and its far from finished yet!

Way to do sprites with style

You know, when I was first watching it, I kept asking myself why the camera was focusing in on so many blurry sprites. And then it hit me after I noticed the level of detail that went into this flash. You were really used some dynamic camera angles to convey the story. So, if would have been nice if more of the sprites were of a higher quality, but this was still expertly done.

Great story--and finally, a fresh breath of air to a style of art I thought had long played it's final hands.

DYNAKYRIS responds:

I appreciate that.

In an animation form such as this, you work with what you can. I'm just glad I grew up in the 80s and 90s, otherwise, I'd do something ilke this in 3DStudioMax or Maya (minus KAISA). I'm more of a 2D kind of guy.

Thanks for watching this with your artistic eyes open.

I only read 10 reviews. xD If you have a honest issue about my work, you're taking me too seriously.
